American Black Bear
This male weight is over 600 pounds and may live for 26 years in the wild, the record is 880 pounds. They range across the America’s and parts of Mexico. It is the continent’s smallest and most widely distributed bear species. It is listed by the IUCN as “least concern”, due to the species’ widespread distribution and a large global population estimated to be twice that of all other bear species combined.
